A Niagara region girl has the right message for the right time of year. 9-year-old Alexa Kirkwood of Fonthill was named the grand prize-winning entry of the 12th Annual Holiday Card Contest for kids. She is the daughter of a Service Desk Analyst David Kirkwood at the Data Centre in Thorold, Alexa lives with her family in Fonthill, where she is a Grade 4 student at A.K. Wigg Public School. “We are very proud of Alexa and all of her accomplishments,” says David. “She has a big heart, is kind, caring and always thinking of others first.”
The young artist’s drawing shows a nurse, an elf and Santa and his reindeer spreading his message of kindness: “Open Your Heart and Be Kind.” A wonderful message for the season and one that will now be spread as Alexa’s artwork will be featured on the Niagara Health 2018 Christmas Card that will be distributed to community partners and children in the hospital this holiday season. According to her father “Alexa’s drawing is meant to bring joy to sick children, her drawing is about being kind and sharing with others, especially during this holiday season.”
