Holiday Events Continue At The Library

Many may have begun to put Christmas away, but the Holiday events continue at the Brantford Public Library! In fact this afternoon the main branch, at 173 Colborne Street, will play host to a host of elves with a screening of the Christmas movie Elf, followed by an Elf scavenger hunt through the library!

Holiday Movie & Scavenger Hunt – December 27, 2019 from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

“First we watch Elf! Then we explore the library with an Elf scavenger hunt. We will provide a peanut free snack!”

That is just one of the events the downtown branch will be hosting before and into the New Year. This includes some events you will need to register for, such as the Slime Making event taking place Tomorrow where you can learn to make slime and customize your slime with special add-ins like glitter. They ask you to register for one of the following three session times that are available: 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec 28th. Sessions are 20 minutes in length. Online registration is required, if you need assistance registering please call them at 519-756-2220.

If you have trouble doing things like registering to events online they have something for that! It’s Tech Time, where you can bring your gadget – tablet, e-reader, cell phone, laptop – in to the library to get help better understanding it! The next such event is going to be on Monday, Dec 30th, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. It’s a weekly event, held on Monday’s, so the next after that will be on January 6th.

Also happening on Monday, Dec 30th, is Snowglobe Stories – “As the snowflakes outside begin to fall, join us for a wintery storytime. We’ll share stories, songs and create our own snowglobes to  celebrate the beauty of winter.” It’s a lovely, crafty, event suitable for the family. It will be running from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

And they even have some celebrations for New Year’s Eve! Well, they’re calling it Noon Year’s Eve where they invite you to help them countdown to Noon Year’s Eve with games, crafts and a huge celebration at noon. It takes place on Dec 31st from 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

They also have their Holiday Discovery Zone events where you can drop-in and enjoy pop-up activities on your holiday break! With all events taking place from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
