Good Deeds are often overlooked when they are a day to day occurrence; but not while Waterloo Regional Police are taking part in Operation Heat.
Waterloo Regional Police, Crime Stoppers, and Mac’s Convenience/Circle K stores have teamed up to reward youth in the Waterloo Region for good behaviour. “Operation Heat” runs throughout the fall and winter and officers will hand out tickets to youth seen exhibiting good behaviour; such as picking up trash or helping someone cross the street, or even riding a bike with a helmet. Those tickets will actually be a coupon which can be redeemed for a hot chocolate at any Mac’s or Circle K convenience store.
Waterloo Regional Police Chief Bryan Larkin says this is a chance to not only reinforce good behaviour in the local youth, hopefully improving communities, but also to build a positive relationship between those youth and officers.
