There has been some confusion recently with the announcement that the Grand River Conservation Authority was closing their parks. Some thought this meant that City parks and trails were also being closed; that is not the case. As they had to answer on their Twitter.
The City of Brantford has all the information on what is closed on their website at brantford.ca/Covid-19 including the following:
City Parks and Trails remain open. As park amenities are not sanitized, residents are asked to ensure they are adhering to strict social distancing guidelines (6 ft apart) and are taking the following precautions while enjoying outdoor parks and public spaces:
- Stay home if you are feeling unwell
- Wash your hands frequently
- Keep a safe distance of 6 feet or 2 metres from those around you
- Avoid touching your face
- No hug or handshakes
But it is important to note that these amenities are being kept available only so long as the public obeys the safety measures. If necessary the City may be forced to shut this down.
Respect others and yourself, keep to the precautions, and enjoy what is still available.
