It might be one of the most unusual, and dangerous, Christmas trees on display this year; but it is meant as an educational tool for holiday travelers. Lithuanian Airports put up a post on LinkedIn which encouraged travelers to be familiar with the regulations around travel before attempting to pass through security and help them with next years display. “With knives, scissors, lighters, blades and all other sorts of dangerous goods on it – this Christmas tree has it all. So if you don’t want your personal, yet prohibited, belongings to land on our next year’s Christmas tree – better check out the baggage requirements before you pack for your next flight. Safe travels!”
And, indeed, this tree is crafted from a multitude of pairs of scissors, and decorated with all sorts of items, from a fake handgun, to lighters, and knives of all kinds; box cutters, Swiss army knives, kitchen knives, and the tree topper even appears to be made from cheese knives. It is a truly impressive display of confiscated items, one comment on the post describes it as “…a serious piece of art!”
However you view it, the tree does seem to have a message and delivers it pointedly, and kudos to the individuals at the main Lithuanian Airport for putting it together. Hopefully no one got hurt during assembly.
