The Virginia Beach nonprofit, Sisters Healing Sisters, spent Easter Sunday helping those in need. The group distributed hot meals and toiletries to homeless at the Oceanfront. It’s the third year that this group has been reaching out to those in need and according to President and founder, Rickkita Taylor, “We not only give out meals, we give out hugs, we talk, we motivate them, and just let them know we are a community and we are behind them and this is an issue we care about.”
It is difficult to see people on the street, going hungry, living in need and not feel something, “My heart just went out to them and I wanted to do something for them. I wanted to do more,” Taylor said. The nonprofit runs entirely on donations. Taylor added that she’s even invested her own money, to keep the organization running.
There are many ways that people can help each other, food for the hungry, care for those in pain, some require funds while others need just time. All are wonderful and you can read more about this particular group in your Good News Story of the Day here.
