TikTok Wine Opening Video Goes Viral

Here’s a viral video that might come in handy for any unusual New Year celebrations you may be having.

Over on TikTik, user Jamie Griff who posts as @JamieGriffWine, has been running a series of videos on how to open a bottle of wine without a corkscrew, which I suppose is a very handy set of videos for those who are either only very occasional wine drinkers, or very un-prepared wine drinkers. But it was a video he posted two weeks ago that has caught a lot of attention with well over 1.3 million views.

The video isn’t a complicated one, after the introduction and some quick instructions to put the wine in the shoe, Griff starts hitting the sole of the shoe against the tree, holding the bottle of wine in the bottom of the shoe. After just a few hits, the cork starts to rise out of the bottle, which Griff shows to the camera. He then continues until the cork pops out.

Ordinarily this sort of a solution would be filed under “brute force and ignorance.” Only this seems more carefully thought out. Either way, it’s effective! Should you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of no where with nothing but a bottle of wine, and your shoes.
