School Boards Declare Snow Day Tuesday January 29 2019

Due to the inclement weather school boards all over southern Ontario are letting kids stay home for the second time in eight days. The heavy snowfall overnight has led to unpleasant conditions this morning and both the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board and the Grand Erie District School Board have decided the close their facilities and cancel transportation with GEDSB tweeting the following: “All Grand Erie schools & Board facility sites are CLOSED today (Jan. 29) due to inclement weather. This includes transportation for Grand Erie students from Six Nations. All Secondary School exams scheduled for today will now take place tomorrow (Jan. 30).”

The BHNCDSB message was simple but similar; “Due to inclement weather today, January 29, transportation is cancelled and all schools in ALL zones are closed to students.” adding in a second tweet; “As per our Community Use of Schools policy, all bookings today, January 29, are cancelled. User groups, please let your participants know.”

Further information on what is open/closed includes;

  • The Lansdowne Children’s Centre in Brantford is open.
  • Haldimand Norfolk REACH programs are cancelled.
  • Laurier Brantford, Waterloo and Toronto campuses are open.

Schools are closed today, keep the kids home and have a fun and safe day.
