Potential Impact On Travel Conditions For Tuesday February 12 2019

If you have the opportunity you may want to change any travel plans you might have had for Tuesday as there is a possibility for poor weather conditions due a weather system making it’s way up from states-side which is due to hit starting early Tuesday morning. Environment Canada is passing along the information in a Special Weather Statement which reads as follows;


Several hours of freezing rain Tuesday.

Precipitation will begin as snow overnight. Snow will change briefly to ice pellets, with 2 to 5 cm accumulation, before changing to freezing rain. Freezing rain will continue for several hours before changing to rain Tuesday afternoon. Travel is likely to be affected.

Additionally, strong easterly winds gusting up to 80 km/h are expected Tuesday.

This freezing rain is associated with a Colorado low that will cross Southern Ontario Tuesday and Wednesday.

Freezing rain warnings may be required as this event draws closer.

If this system does not alter course it is strongly advised that you engage in any travel only with extreme care as several cm of snow and ice are expected to fall over the course of the day which could make roads very slippery.
