The Bay Village, Ohio, Police Department is partnering with the Bay Food Ministry to help out the hungry of their area by accepting non-perishable food items in lieu of monetary payment for certain parking violation fines. They made the offer to those who were hit with a parking violation ticket, that was not parking in an accessible spot or parking in a fire lane, that for every canned item donated, they could get $5 off a parking ticket up to $25.
FOOD FOR FINESNovember 15-December 31The Bay Village Police Department is partnering with the Bay Food Ministry to…
The canned foods will be given to Bay Food Ministry which was founded at Bay Presbyterian Church in 1989, and serves individuals and families who live or work in Bay Village who are in need of food assistance. Last year Bay Food Ministry distributed 47,392 pounds of food!
Paying these fines is as simple as making your donations in the lobby of the police department. And this simple offer sounds like a wonderful way to help those in need in Bay Village and it’s your Good News Story of the Day, find it here. It also sounds like the sort of idea more cities could benefit from (Brantford perhaps?)
