Officer Inspires With Gospel Performance – GNSOTD Tues, Mar 10th 2020

Richmond Police officer Mervin Mayo, who serves as a school resource officer at Richmond Alternative School, Virginia, has gone viral for all the right reasons.

In a video he posted on his own Facebook page Officer Mervin can be seen singing Marvin Sapp’s classic, “The Best of Me.” It seems he couldn’t help himself. “I’ve always been inspired by this song, but for some reason, I couldn’t get it out of my head,” Mayo said. “So, I had to get to a piano immediately to minister to myself.”

When everyone else around could only see my failures, God saw the best in Me… it doesn't matter what I did, because God sees me for who I am…. He knows MY heart..

It could be that he was divinely inspired, the song speaks of how, even if everyone around you only sees failure, God sees the best in you. A message many may need to hear in these troubled times. And the performance is resonating with many – it has been viewed over 1 million times, and shared more than 40,000 times.

This message of God’s love being so well received, as well as Mervin’s performance being so well loved is your Good News Story of the Day, and you can find more on it here. But remember, in Officer Mayo’s words “It really doesn’t matter what you’re going through. The song says, “God sees the best in you,” he added.
