New Home Activity – Bird Watching

Baking has been the big thing to do while you are stuck inside; all across North America people have been trying new recipes and enjoying the fruits of their labours.

But now there’s a new hobby that quite a few people are taking on. A nice peaceful one you can do from the comfort and safety of your own home. It’s bird watching!

Apparently the boredom has led people to staring out their windows enough that they noticed there’s quite a few birds flying around. This has led to an increase in bird identification apps, like the free one from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology called Merlin, which has thousands of times in the last month. There has also been an increase in viewers of their bird cams.

It’s a wonderful activity that you can do without needing a crowd around; or really to interact with anyone else at all. Though if you’re interested in community you could always check in with the Ontario Field Ornithologists online.

Whether you take up this new activity or continue with another; we hope you stay safe and we’ll get through this Pandemic together.
