Michigan Library Asks People To Stop Microwaving Books

A library in Michigan has had to ask its patrons to stop doing something strange to their books. Apparently the Kent District Library has had to ask people to stop microwaving their books!

After finding several of their books returned with scorch marks they posted photos of them on Facebook to ask people to stop microwaving them as the radio frequency tags in all the library materials have metal in them which catch fire in the microwave.

So why were people microwaving the books? To kill the coronavirus. Not really paying attention to the fact that the library quarantines all returns for 72 hours to do the same job.

For those who are really concerned about the risk of contamination the Library also does digital rentals which can be done from the safety of the home.
