High Winds Expected Today, Wednesday, November 27th 2019

There is a cold weather front that will be moving through southern Ontario and in its wake there are strong winds expected this afternoon. Winds that will be strong enough to warrant a Wind Warning down by the lake, and Special Weather Statements for most other regions, from Windsor to Hamilton.

For Simcoe, Delhi, Norfolk, Dunnville, Caledonia, Haldimand, and Niagara; there is the following Wind Warning in effect:

Southwesterly winds gusting to 100 km/h this afternoon and evening.

Very strong southwesterly winds gusting to 100 km/h will suddenly develop early this afternoon as a sharp cold front blasts through. These damaging winds will persist into this evening before veering to the west and diminishing.

The highest wind gusts will be in exposed areas along the Lake Erie shore.

Power outages are possible.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.

For all other affected areas, such as Brantford and the County of Brant it is a Special Weather Statement that reads:

Strong southwesterly winds beginning this afternoon.

Strong southwesterly winds gusting to 80 km/h are expected to develop this afternoon in the wake of a sharp cold front blasting across the region.

Wind gusts may approach 90 km/h this afternoon especially in exposed areas.

Winds will veer to the west and slowly ease this evening.

Strong winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. A few power outages are also possible.

These sort of winds can be dangerous or damaging if unexpected and unprepared for, please ensure that all light, loose, objects are out of the path of the wind this evening. Be safe, God bless.
