Grand Erie Schools Decking the Halls and Adding Holiday Cheer with a Variety of Events

Schools across Grand Erie are celebrating the upcoming holiday season with a variety of events, activities and projects aimed at making the season merrier for all. Musical performances welcoming parents and families, delicious turkey dinners for students and staff, and fundraisers in support of local charities are just a few of the traditions being celebrated in the days to come.

A full list of events includes:

Brant/Brantford Schools

  • Centennial-Grand Woodlands School families are invited to attend the Holiday Concert, “Home for the Holidays,” on December 19 at noon and 5 p.m. All classes will participate and the Ukulele Club will open the show.
  • Cobblestone Elementary School hosts its annual Christmas Open House on December 18.
  • Ecole Dufferin is hosting its annual Christmas Open House today (December 13).
  • Graham Bell-Victoria Public School is hosting its annual Student Festive Lunch on December 19. The school’s 10 Days of Christmas also began December 10 with activities, crafts, and a fundraiser for Brant United Way.
  • Grand Erie Learning Alternatives (GELA) is celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas with a variety of activities, including Ugly Sweater Day and cookie decorating contests.
  • King George School is hosting a Christmas Shop for little shoppers, featuring an inventory of donated items sold for $1 or less so students can shop for loved ones. The shop will be open December 17-19.
  • Major Ballachey Public School hosted its annual holiday turkey dinner today, thanks to the support of Brantford Police Service which generously donated money used to purchase turkeys that fed nearly 400 people.
  • Onondaga-Brant is hosting a Festive Lunch organized by the Parent Association today (December 13), with all students served a hot meal in the gymnasium with festive music.
  • Princess Elizabeth Public School hosts its Festive Frolic tonight at 6 p.m.
  • Tollgate Technological Skills Centre is hosting its annual turkey dinner for all staff and students on December 21 at 11:35 a.m. thanks to community and staff donations.


Haldimand/Norfolk Schools

  • Elgin Avenue Public School is hosting a turkey dinner for all students and staff on December 19. The school’s Winter Wonderland Celebration kicks off December 20 with crafts and activities.
  • Rainham Central School is hosting a holiday concert with showings on December 19 (1:45 p.m. and 6 p.m.) and December 20 (9:30 a.m.).
  • Simcoe Composite School is hosting the 12 Days of Giving, a gift and food donation fundraiser in support of local women’s shelters and food banks. A staff-versus-students hockey game is planned for the final day (December 21).
  • Valley Heights Secondary School is holding its annual holiday gift basket lottery of 10 baskets filled with everything needed to make dinner, given out to randomly selected families.
