11-year-old Ben Pickles has been letting his hair grow since 2014 and he has plans for what he will do about his long locks. He has decided that he will use his long hair for good and that once he raises $10,000 for the classroom in Sierra Leone through WE Charity, he’ll get a haircut.
Pickles, who has previously raised money for refugee sponsorship, says he was inspired at WE Day in Toronto by a Sierra Leone resident who lost both her hands in that country’s civil war. So far his fundraiser, aptly called “Locks for Learning” that was launched last month has raised $2,300.
This young local lad should be an inspiration for the ways any one of use can help those who need it. If you would like to support him in his efforts you can donate to Ben’s fundraiser online at crowdrise.com/benpickles; and you can find him on Facebook, and on YouTube.
