It is Fire Prevention Week, with the theme for the week being “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware – fire can happen anywhere.” Fire Departments are encouraging Ontarians to Look for potential fire hazards in the home, Listen for smoke alarms, and to Learn two ways out of every room in the home and practice a home escape plan with the family. And there are many events taking place to help people be a part of the week and also prepare them in case of an emergency.
County of Brant open houses, with an opportunity to meet local firefighters, check out fire trucks, and tour the station will be happening on different dates and locations including:
- Thursday October 11th St. George will have an open house from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
- Saturday October 13th Paris at station 1 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Brantford Fire Department is also having a series of events, including;
A display at Social Services (220 Colborne Street) on Tuesday, Oct 9th, from 10 am – 1 pm and at Brantford Cineplex from 6 pm to 9 pm.
The Great Escape at Lowes on Wednesday, Oct 10th, from 12 pm – 3pm
Come tour our inflatable safety house in the parking lot and have a truck tour while going over home fire safety, smoke alarms and co alarms. Focus on having an escape plan and two ways out.
