The City of Brantford and the Brant County SPCA (BCSPCA) are pleased to announce the formalization of an agreement that will see the lands known as 10 Kraemer’s Way in Brantford provided to the BCSPCA to house a new animal centre that will include animal adoption rooms, a community room, administration offices and an accessory veterinarian clinic. The vet clinic will provide medical assistance including a spay neuter program required for animals in the care of the BCSPCA. Wellness programs, as well as support services to a new Pets for Life program are also planned in the new 12,000 square foot centre, which will be nearly five times bigger than the current facility.
The deal was made possible on August 25, 2020, when at the request of BCSPCA, Brantford City Council approved an amendment to the purchase price, reducing it from $225,000 to $1.00 subject to conditions to be met by the SPCA, including that they continue to own and operate the site for a period of 10 years, thus securing BCSPCA’s continued operations in the City of Brantford.
This should allow the SPCA, which has operated in Brantford and Brant county for 45 years, to improve their offered services including; providing care for homeless animals, community outreach initiatives, pet adoptions, and humane education and awareness programs.
A gentle reminder that those in search of animal companions to bring into the family will find plenty in need of forever homes at the BCSPCA.
