Police in Brantford have cancelled an Amber Albert for a two-year-old girl.
Earlier the police had issued an alert saying they believed Heather McManus was believed to be with her father, Shawn McManus last seen Thursday at 12:18 a.m. leaving Brantford in a vehicle with two adult females. They later updated saying the vehicle was found in Hamilton but the father and daughter were missing.
The most recent information from Brantford Police Service is that the child has been found and is safe.
More details are emerging after an Amber Alert was issued in Brantford. At about midnight, Police say an estranged father barged into a Bissett Avenue residence and confronted the mother who was then assaulted and threatened. The suspect was then confronted by another resident who was also assaulted. The suspect grabbed the two-year-old child and fled in a vehicle to Hamilton. At about 3:00 a.m. the suspect was located at an Upper Ottawa Street address and after negotiations, the man turned himself over to police and the child was located safety. As a result of the investigation, 37-year-old Shawn Jason McManus has been charged with Abduction of Person Under Sixteen, Assault, Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Uttering Threats to Destroy/Damage Property, and Break, Enter and Commit. The accused has been held for a bail hearing
