Amazon Delivery Driver Is Hero After Rescue Of Elderly Man – GNSOTD Mon, Dec. 7th 2020

A young man who works as a delivery driver in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, found himself in an extraordinary position recently when he was out on a routine delivery run and found himself performing an act that now has him being hailed as a hero.

Sean Campbell is 23 years old, making his way in the world delivering packages, and that’s what he was doing when he heard screams coming from a nearby home.

“I heard the screaming and when you hear something like that you have to go to it,” Campbell said.

He dropped his packages and ran to find an inferno engulfing a building. After arriving he realized an elderly man was stuck inside, seemingly unable to move.

“He was in the kitchen, you know, with his walker just standing there. I don’t think he really knew what was going on. I was like ‘Sir, c’mon. I need to help you. C’mon, let’s get out,'” Campbell said.

So Sean ripped open the front door, ran into the building, and escorted the elderly man out of the home. He describes the moment saying, “He was trying to grab his walker. I was like no, we got to move… you’ve got to see another day.”

The man’s son, who is named Tim West, arrived a short time later and commended Sean. “It was fantastic. He was both here and able to go inside and brave enough to go inside. We really appreciate that,” West said.

The fire reportedly started in the garage of the home in the Century Woods Subdivision. It eventually caused so much damage to the home that it is in no condition to be habitable, so the elderly man is living with a relative nearby. That Sean was able to save him is your Good News Story of the Day, find it in full, and watch the video, here.

In additional good news, firefighters were able to rescue the family dog too! As for Sean? He says he was just “thankful he got the people inside out.”
